Anime Boston 2008. The Good, The Awesome, THE FUCKEN WIN!

This weekend was the annual Anime Boston and my god was it epic. I'll do a quick run down of all three days and what I've been doing in the most none-detailed description I can!

Day 1: Alright. On the first day I did not do much. Bought two wallscrolls and ended up leaving quite early. The only thing I went to was the Opening Ceremony, which was actually pretty good.

Day 2: This is where the fun actually starts. Started the day with the 2nd viewing of the AMV Contest from the previous night. The AMVs this year were epic to no extent. All of them were really well made and I was just blown away by what people have pulled out of their asses for the past few months. The AMVs overall were a lot better than the batch last year. Went back to dealers to pick up some manga. Then we got in line for the pillows concert. The line was pretty damn long, but it was the freaking pillows. I couldn't expect anything less from the crowd. We got pretty crappy seats, but it was alright cause while waiting for the concert to start we got a sneak peak at the talented Monty Oum's Dead Fantasy 2, also accompanied by the first Dead Fantasy. I'll say this. It. Was. Epic. The whole damn thing was so godly and awesome. It was one of those videos that can't be described. The preshow stuff is always good (especially this year). The concert started with Luv and Response, which were pretty good in my opinion. Then we got the pillows. Its been awhile since I've listened to their stuff, but god the bass in the room were awesome. We ended up leaving mid-concert, which sucks, but I'm satisfied. After that we waited for the Masquerade. Line was epic and we were moved to the balcony for epic seating. Saw great skits and also got to see the winners of the AMV contest. Day ends.

Day 3: Got down and went straight for the dealer's (when it opened). Picked myself up some more manga (two volumes to be exact), a Haruhi figure which was god damn expensive and a Gundam kit (cause my con experience would not be complete without me getting one). Went to cosplay chess, which lasted a little longer than I expected, but was great. The inside jokes kept coming. Preshow was still stupid-funny. Overall, the con was great.

Reasons why it was epic:
1. The Game. (yeah thats right, you just lost it!)
2. Mudkips... I herd u liek themz
3. Marco. . . <.< *silence*
4. I know a song that gets on everybody's nerves, etc. etc. etc.
5. NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP! NEVER GONNA LET YOU DOWN! etc. etc. (thats right Rick-Roll)
6. BASS!!! SO MUCH OF IT!!!!!!!!!
7. Ninjas and Shinigamis and Death Note, Oh My. (no but seriously. . . it has to stop)
8. Still Alive. Cake. Lies. and more awesome.
9. (EDIT!!!) One more thing. CARAMELLDANSEN!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH

~Kevin~

EDIT: This is probably a "beta" of Monty Oum's "Dead Fantasy 2". This video is freakin' epic!

Da Capo II (aka Da Crap-o II)

Okay. . I know I haven't posted in forever, but since I had some time and the series failed so much, I couldn't help myself to not doing so.

Some may know that I became a huge fan of Da Capo and especially gained a liking towards Asakura Nemu (which also had Kotori added in because I can.). In Da Capo II we are delivered with the story of the grandchildren of those in the original Da Capo story. The only returning character we see is Yoshino Sakura (who is of a minor role in this series). ON TO THE ACTUAL CRAP!

The story follows not the Asakura twins, but a chick named Koko. First let me start by saying this, KOKO SUCKS! She is the worst protagonist female lead I've seen yet. She just fails overall in comparison to the other characters in the series. Now the actual story was just SOOOO standard and boring that I could barely concentrate throughout the episodes. It lacked in almost every field I can think of.

Story: We follow Koko trying to develop her relationship with the lead protagonist guy (whatever his name was) and also follow Amakase Minatsu. Thats....about it for story. Nothing else. . .It was basically watching ToHeart all over again. It started to linear and felt like each episode was the same over and over again.

Characters: Nothing much to say. I've grown to like Nanaka a lot. . . even though she was just a support in the anime. . . I'm extremely sad on how they shafted almost every character possible. . .

Animation: Oh god, don't get me started. Animation felt flawed on so many levels. Now usually I wouldn't mind, but. . . It was really difficult to watch. It wasn't nice and the story didn't help either.

Music/Sound: I usually don't pay attention to this, but I can say its pretty standard considering its a port of the visual novel...so I can't say.

Overall Enjoyment: I found myself wanting to drop it faster than one can say "this sucks". I was just extremely bored through the whole experience. . . Its extremely rare to find an anime that made me want to just die in a hole. I mean Second Season of Da Capo was better than this...and I hated Aishia with a passion in DC SS.

On that note I will not recommend this to ANYONE. I don't care if you like Da Capo or want a romance anime, this series just flat out sucks. The only reason I slightly enjoyed it was because Nanaka was a good enough character to watch and I was hoping something would happen with Sakura. It sucks, they don't even make much mention of the fact the lead character can do magic or anything. I felt the first episode was just extremely disjointed and I swear I probably didn't pay attention 95% of the time.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (final impression)

It...is...epic... on that comparable to 300. This series can't be rivaled with anything else. Filled with tons of hot-blood and yet enough comedy to keep this series in such a perfect balance that it just can't be rivaled. I assure you that almost anyone who picks this series up will like something about it.

...so as I pray, UNLIMITED DRILL WORKS!

our burning blood will cut through fate!
We'll break through the heavens and dimensions!
We'll show you our path through force!
